Not charging at idle.

I have been riding my newly acquired 1993 trailboss 250 4x4 after getting it running. Well the other day the battery was dead. I charged it and checked the voltage and it was 12.8v. When i turn the ignition on it drops to 12.4v. While idleing the voltage slowly drops until the battery is dead. If i give it barely any throttle it jumps to 12.8v and the more throttle the more it goes up and stops at 13.9v. I checked all the wires and did a ohms test as described in the polaris service manual and it checked out. The yellow wires off the stator while idling show 14vac. And if i turn the machine off i have battery voltage at the rectifier. Do i have a bad stator? Also do these machines charge at idle?

i noticed that my oil cooler lifts up from bottom there are two bolts but don't seem to attach to any thing and back side has a nut on back side of bushing are they suppose to connect
maybe they are broken bolts

First ride in snow.

Found out that one of our favorite trails is open until Dec. 1st, that certainly doesn't mean it will be passable until then. With our weather being absolutely beautiful this last week my wife and I went ahead and made plans to ride this last Saturday. We had invited 5 other couples to join us and all them had plans or last minute issues that came up. We didn't let that deter us in anyway and decided that we would forge ahead and go any way, We know the trail quite well and if it got too bad we would just find a place to turn around and go back (if possible). We had gotten our first snow a week and a half ago and it was a pretty decent amount, about 2 1/2 inches in our yard. That translates to a least a foot to where we had planned to ride. But this last week was gorgeous with temps in the high 50's to low 60's and with each day the snow line moved steadily up the mountain sides, well at least on the south and west sides. We headed out at about 11:30 Saturday morning and arrived at the trail head at a little after noon. The road up the canyon was snowier and icier than I expected, however we were on the trail by 12:15 and cruising through mud, snow, and ice in the shady spots. We broke out into a nice meadow that faced south and it was totally dry, that was very encouraging. We continued on and into more shade with sunny spots and mud as we gained altitude about 3 miles in we rounded a corner and encountered a rather large downed tree. End of the line. We turned around and headed back down the trail head. Upon reaching the truck we contemplated whether or not to try to go up and forest service road and connect back up with the trail at another access point or go home and chalk it up to being to late in the year. It was too nice of a day to not at least give it a shot, we were able to gain access to the trail about 3 1/2 miles up the forest service road and as we drove onto the narrow trail I had horrible visions of sliding off the edge and down the 60+ degree slope into thick timber but proceeded anyway.

Fuel Optimizer Needed???

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to get an HMF Swamp Series slip on exhaust. This would be going on a 2017 Outlander XT. Just wanted opinions and experience if it is worth also picking up the fuel optimizer? I wouldn't want any exhaust popping after install but have also seen a few people online say it's really not even needed with a 650 and only a slip on.

Figured I would check in here before purchasing anything though.

Older 2WD

I've got a late 90's Polaris 325. Has 10" rear rims, 4x100 bolt pattern.
My question is, can I find a different hub from a different machine to match the bigger bolt pattern from the front? I have a set of take offs to put on the quad but cannot find 12" rims with the smaller pattern.

Been lurking for awhile. Picked up a New '18 Touring 570 SP about a month ago as mainly a plow vehicle and then a logging road runner 2nd. Figured I should join in the forum festivities. Not my first ATV, just first time on this forum( used to frequent ATVconnection). Previously owned a 98 Sportsman, 01 Scrambler, 08 Renegade X, and an 08 Scrambler at various times. Tons of bikes as well as a few Wranglers. Look forward to learning as much as I can w/o finding out more than I need to know about the common issues associated with the Polaris line.
