I have a 1996 Sportsman 500 with about 1400 miles on it. It started earlier this year with starting hard and shifting really hard. I also noticed the belt smoked once so I decided to service it. I changed all the fluids. Installed a new drive belt. Changed the spark plug, fuel filter and the air filter. It started fine and shifted really good when not running. Then when I got it off the jack stands it started hard and when I got it in gear it stalled. I adjusted the idle up a little but still had the problem. Most of the time I have to start it in gear to get it going. When running in gear I can hardly get it in or out of gear. I don't know a lot about the centrifugal clutches but wonder if it's at least some of the problem.
1995 Polaris 425 magnum issues

Riding with Kiddos
I have a 3 almost 4 year old little girl that LOVES sitting on the back of our quad. I have only rode around our small back yard with her on the back and gone less than 5mph. Even though it takes all of 5 seconds to do a full lap, i can FEEL her grinning behind me as she holds on to the handles of the back seat.
my question is, other than a helmet, what would be the best way to ensure her safety while on the back? Next time i take the quad to the property and have her with me i can go a little more than a few seconds for a ride.
I was thinking about having her sit in front of me and i just reach around her and hold on with one hand (once again, not going to be traveling at high speeds).

Tusk Trilobites on stock wheels 500HO
2011 Sportsman 500HO
Does anybody have stock sizes (25x8x12 F - 25x10x12 R) Trilobites mounted on stock wheels that can give me an actual true height measurement aired up and mounted?
I don't want to mount these until I can be sure they will not be shorter than the stock 489's. I might need to go up one size to stay near stock height according to a number of differing posts online. I just can't find a true answer.
I don't really want to go taller, just don't want to go smaller and ruin my chance of returning them.
Hopefully somebody has this setup and can help. Thanks.

Wiring Accessories for Defender
Hi all, my first post here. Thanks for the great info on this thread.
I just wired a Light bar on my 2018 XTP from the front bumper to the 3 pole buss bar under the center of the dash. The only way I could see to get the wire to the dash was through the front storage area behind the grill and up into/through the fluid fill area space. I shined a light from the dash and that was the only light i could see shining through.
Question 1: Is there a better way to wire without cutting/drilling holes everywhere? I wasn't even sure where to cut so didn't really want to do that.
Question 2: I just installed a rear bumper and need to wire LED lights for it. what is the best way to route these wires to the center buss bar/dash area? Do i need to remove the skid plates and go under the cab?
Thanks in advance.
Bryan

97 Sportsman Low / High Beam LED Suggestions
Good morning everyone,
Recently I've been getting the sportsman ready for hunting season and have hopefully resolved the battery drain problem, changed the u-joint on the rear shaft and installed a new wheel bearing. Now onto the lighting, which is poor at best. The factory bulbs do not, in my opinion, light enough area ahead of the machine. They are probably original bulbs. I would like to change them out with LED bulbs but do not know enough about Watts to understand which choice would be beneficial and not burn up the electrical system or draw too much off of the battery when used. From what I found in the service manual it looks like the high beam is 12v/60w and the low beams are 12v/30w. If I can I would prefer not to install an LED light bar only because I do not want to disturb the current electrical system and potentially screw something up in the process. Replacing the factory bulbs with LED bulbs would be my first choice.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider my post.
