2018 Sportsman 570

Hey Guys, Just got a new hunting rig. 2018 Sportsman 570 (basic model in red). Looking to get some rim/tire ideas!

Thanks! Look forward to talking with you all

Where do I start?

New member to the site because I am picking up a 2015 570 tomorrow.

I am looking for a thread about what to look for when inspecting the bike, and then a thread on where to begin once I get it home.

I'm guessing that there are several areas of the machine that benefit from simple upgrades or fixes, and I would like to tackle some of those before getting too comfortable on it and then not wanting to set aside the time to address any concerns.

Is there a things to lookout for thread? Or a things you should do thread?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Talk to you soon

Hi everyone

Well im an old polaris guy. I just picked up a 96 xplorer 300 for cheap. I also run an 89 polaris indy and two 96 polaris 750 jet skis. But since I like the old stuff I also need advice on when they break and are beyond my level of wrenching. So thanks for having me and I hope with all of your help I can get these relics back in the game for awhile.

Howdy from Fort Worth, TX. Previously owned a 2001 Sportsman 500 HO and am in the process of purchasing a 450 Utility Edition. Won't be using other than to ride around on dirt roads. Too old to go screaming across pastures or trails. Easy does it for this old man. 👍

can am half windshield

Hi is anyone using the can am half windshield? As I said in my introduction post I don't like the way it mounts. The plastic hooks that go in the slots in roll cage seem pretty flimsy. Also don't like the idea of drilling holes in the dash and putting in screws to hold the bracket. The other part I don't get is they use a machine screw to hold the side pieces on.Machine screw and plastic with no threads?Am I missing something here? When I called the dealer to ask if could return it the kid in parts dept. got defensive about it and said it was the only windshield that does not rattle I say B.S.I have one coming from clearly tough. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

XP 550/850/1000 Tranmission Differences – Blown Main Gear Case

The weirdest thing happened last week - I unloaded my 2016 Sportsman XP and drove it up my driveway. Turned around and came back, that's when it started making a crunching sound. I also noticed immediately that my reverse gear would not hold and had grinding in neutral and no movement at all in low. Park would still want to propel me forward.

Not sure what could have failed on it (and why now for that matter) when it worked great the last time I rode it. Thinking that I somehow broke the shift fork and sucked it through the transmission.

Save for tearing into the gearcase and finding complete carnage due to ingesting part of the shift, I want to try and fix the gearcase.

It might be cheaper to buy a used, low mile take off and source replacement parts from it. I noticed that the 550/850/1000 XP and Scrambler counterparts all have different part numbers for the entire assembly. Does anyone know the technical differences and what compatibility is between the different models?

Sportsman 500 Primary clutch not letting belt settle into grooves at idle.

03 Sportsman 500. Got so it would creep and not shift. A inspection of the Primary clutch shows the belt is not in the grooves when at idle. Instead it is riding to the right and against the inside sheave. Not settling in the grooves makes the belt too tight so the secondary clutch keeps spinning. Do I need a rebuild or ? I know nothing about fiber bushings, brass bushings or shims. But willing to do what it takes to solve this.

Thanks Don

2016 Sportsman Mega Mayhem on stock wheels?

I have someone local selling a set of Mega Mayhem 27-11-14 and 27-9-14 I'm wondering if these will work on the stock wheels. I'm not interested in the custom wheels and don't plan to spend the money in that area. I ride the mountains here in NC and take it hunting near the coast in the sand and swamp. I also just purchased a plow. We sometimes get snow in excess of a foot. Give me some input guys.
