Hey guys new here, a little background for you. I have sportsman 500 that’s been sitting for 5 years. before I put it up I drained all fuel and put about 10cc of oil on the piston so it wouldn’t freeze up. I needed to replace the stator pick up and starter. All got wet. So as a safe measure I cleaned the fuel tank, carb, and got a new vacuum pump, new plug as well. Got the new stator in found out the square stock on the fly wheel was broke and replaced that and here’s where it gets interesting. So if you turn the bike key off then back on and start it, it will fire up for like a second or two. And I try to crank it up again, it turns over but won’t even fire with either.
So again key off then back to the on position fires up then dies.
Does anyone know what it could be? I was thinking maybe the ignition module? Idk I’ve been pulling hair thinking about it. I just read on here there is a Saftey in the throttle controller on the the right handle bar and if the contacts are not touching it could shut off like that! Any help would be appreciated
Ps I’m a diesel mechanic so I’m pretty savvy in this field just a different machine.
