I searched around and couldn't find any threads related to my problem specifically so I'll try to make it short and simple. I recently bought a new to me 2015 Sportsman 850sp. Test rode it (not much), loaded it up in the truck, and I was on my way. Soon after I got home, went to unload it and the shifter sheared completely off at the transmission. I took the seat and plastics off to get a better look and sure enough someone had welded the thing on there as a temporary fix. I can still manually shift it into gear with pliers and I have all gears except high. It will not drive anywhere in high gear, just rev up and sit still. Low and reverse both work. From my understanding from looking at it, I am guessing the whole trans needs to be pulled just to replace that shifter, correct? I mean since high gear doesn't work anyway, it needs to be pulled and either fixed or replaced but I'm wondering if that's a separate issue (maybe a sensor or clutch isn't grabbing in that gear). How bad of a job is it to pull the trans?? Why would I have every gear besides high? Any input is appreciated.
Thank you everyone for your help
I have been posting allot in the scrambler section but wanted to do a thank you to everyone here, this is my first scrambler and first wheeler and it would of taken allot longer going from top to bottom without this forums help, all I have to do is get some fasteners for the front drive chain and it will be ready for the trails this year. A whole hearted thank you. I’m attaching some photos of the finished wheeler. Thx again very much!!

Looking for advice/info on upcoming Polaris promotions.
Hello all, I'm currently looking around and quoting machines at every dealership in my area.
I'm looking to buy a new or gently used Sportsman in the 500cc to 700 cc range. My question is if there is any predictability to Polaris promotions? Like do they roll out one promotion after the other? Do they run the same sequence of promotions each year? Are some promotions a lot better than others? When is usually the ideal time to buy to ensure I'm getting the most for my money?
Thanks in advance to one and all for any information you can provide on this. I'm very excited to be buying again. My last purchase was way back in 2002.
Side note here but I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada, but am looking for info in general even if it's from our good friends in the USA!! Any information is good information!

Everything on the machine is stock and like new condition with 30" tires etc. I plan to trail ride in woods, hatfld McCoy annually, with some solid mud riding on occasion. So I'll ride here and there not often really. I read where some said " this is not a ride the trail with some mud kinda machine"...well actually that's what I'm here hoping it is haha
CV Boots
Hello All, I have a 16' Rene XXC 850 and seem to be going through OEM CV Boots like crazy. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not, but I've replaced all 4 on front and now it looks like a pin-hole leak on the inner rear. I have skid plates, so I don't think I'm hitting anything. I'm just not sure if OEM's are built to last. Can anyone suggest a good aftermarket CV boot to try? Thanks in advance!!!
2014 Sportsman 400 Scrubbing/ grinding
When I turn the key over it fires right up but after letting off the key it continues to make a scrubbing or grinding noise (best way i know to describe it) for about 1.5-2 secs. Whats causing this and is it going to lead to another issue?
570 Dust cover fix.
Hey guys, on a recent hunting trip over Easter with a group of mates I was riding my sportsman through some thick bush and I notice that after the trip I was missing the little rubber dust cover on the hub. I ordered 2 new ones from my local Polaris dealer and they cost me $80 for both. So hopefully I won't have to replace them again, I have used a cable tie to secure them to the hub a bit better and they seem harder to remove now. Hope it works. 1999 sportsman 500 front shock mounts
The upper front shock mounts keep wearing out. I changed them a year ago and they are worn again. I have not even done that much riding. Has anyone have this problem before. When I hit bumps I get a loud bang and can feel it in the front end again.
2017 sportsman 450
Hello. I am replacing the timing chain tensioner with a Alba racing fixed adjuster. I haven't found a whole lot on these atv's online other than the typical I'm beating my new ATV videos on YouTube. So does anyone know where I'd find the TDC marks on this model? Alba recommends timing be just past tdc to ensure both valves are closed prior to removing the hydraulic tensioner installed by Polaris. I'm sure by the time I'm down with the second one I'll be pro style at doing them.
