checking cam in a 500 Big Boss

Well I took off the rocker cover then pulled the rocker shaft which left the cam exposed. I then put a flat edge over top of the cam and measured the height at zero lift then at max lift on the exhaust lobe. Then I did the same with the intake lobes. I did this several times being I didn't have a dial indicator that would work so I used a Vernier, not the most accurate but I couldn't see any wear on the cam and all measurements came out about the same. I know this will make the Pros cringe, but good enough for my ol buggy.
I did see a wear spot on the exhaust rocker where it contacts the lil ball that must be the de compressor. [I have never seen one and always wondered how it worked]

Si it looks like it might have been the stupid carb all along, but know I hope I know where to go next. The carb again. lol
I will try to post pictures.
thanks all

New to Forum

Hello All!!! :th_smiliewavey:
I'm new to the forum although not new to Can-Am. I currently have a 2007 Renegade 500 and recently purchased a 2012 Renegade 1000XXC. Love both of them and ride often. I will explore around in the forum but I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions. I live in the lower Michigan area and love trail riding but hill climbs and rocks and valleys are fun as well. Any recommendations out there from other riders? It's great to be here and I look forward to meeting others in due time.

2006 Ignition question

I recently lost a key and have to buy one and get it programmed, and this got me thinking. Has anyone just replaced the ignition switch to a regular switch using regular keys?

It would make life easier and be cheaper in the long run.

Has anyone done this? Would it work?

Thanks

Apache 360 Front Roller Position

I have searched and searched have not really found info on how people are running the front tracks, Front roller down or up? I understand that when it is rotated down you get more ground contact and rotated up it will turn better. Those of you that have the Apache tracks, which position do you prefer and benefits? I did notice that when rotated up I have to remove my extreme bumper so it doesn't contact during turning. Of course since I got my tracks over the summer it has not snowed more than 1" here for me to test :crying.

1999 awd aftermarket cv fitment issue

So I got some nice looking cv joints from ebay and the hole that connects the shaft to the diff is drilled about a spline off, which makes a rollpin impossible to get through both shafts and still be tight. In other words , I'm trying to come up with a solution to the problem. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
