Brand new to the forum! This is my first post. This is a great forum with a wealth of knowledge! I'm really hoping someone can help. I need to get my awd to work. I don't need the speedometer and I really don't want to purchase a new speedometer for $350-400 just to get my awd working. Here's the issue:

I have '02 Polaris Sportsman 700. The speedometer cluster had to be disconnected. In doing so, I read on this forum, that the awd will no longer work because it goes through the speedometer. I researched on the forum and found the AWD Bypass fix/hack. I thought that was my silver bullet. I spliced in a ground wire to the brown white striped wire (circled in yellow in the pic). I turned the ignition key and nothing. It would not start up or turn over. It was completely dead. I removed the bypass and it started right up.

Does anyone understand why this would happen? If this isn't the right fix what can I do to get my awd working?

I've attached some pics of the '02 - '03 actual wiring, the schematic and the awd troubleshooting process flows from the service manual. I'm hoping this might help someone else facing this or a similar issue.

fyi...I disconnected the speedometer cluster because water got into it and it was going hay wire. It was flickering and flashing. However, the interesting part is there were short period of times when it did work correctly and the AWD light would turn on. Based on that and the AWD was working fine before the speedometer issue, I could be wrong but I don't think there's an issue with the AWD switch or light.

hello what experiences you have the XT shocks, my xt is ordered and should come next week 🙂



actually I wanted to buy the xtp but they do not exist in Europe, that's why I bought the xt Hd10 without trial and I'm looking forward to finally testing them on the country roads and terrain.


I know that the xt has very bad shocks in the ATV, most of you build shocks after a short time, how is it with the Defender xt?


I think I will also rebuild the Shocks, as soon as I find suitable offers, has someone here already rebuilt some?

newbie here;
just bought an 09 polaris 550xp EPS. Haven't used it much yet, still waiting for snow :grin. I put a warn winch on then the 48" KFI plow. Took me a couple days of watchin TV, drinkin :beer: and smokin :joint: but I got er done. with the hand grip brush guards I had on it I couldn't find a windshield for it that I wouldn't have to cut up to get to fit so I put my inginuity to work, it works great. Been lurking here :nerd as it threw out it's first code yesterday and I wanted to know what it was :gruebel:, figured it out on this site. Also wanted to do maintanance on it and wasn't about to buy polaris oil, not gonna happen at that price! :shock: Found out what people are using on here. I found this site to be very informative and I appreciate that and the knowledge of people on here is outstanding :applaus: of course :postpic: so I posted.

I can’t find any aftermarket exhausts for the new 450, could I use a 570 exhaust?

I have a 07 Outlander 650. I am having issues with it lacking power. Seems to come and go. I can be half throttle and have no power then out of no where it kicks in and takes off. Almost like it's running on one cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.

do the 25" mayhems run short? ive read the mega and monsters run a little short and im looking to replace the stockers on my 03 500ho. anyone have a better deal than these on ebay?

Anybody in here ever deal with AAEN preformance before? I'm looking into there racing exaust and big bore kit for my 97 sportsman? Just wondering if anybody has gone through them and if it was worth the money.

Alright so I have an 08 outlander 800, vforcejohn primary with 2 way bearing and an stm secondary (brand new).. the bike shifts and operates fine when first started up and cold.. once some miles are put on and it’s warm it starts creeping and won’t shift out of gear until I turn it off.. idles fine, two way bearing spun free on the primary, the deflection is good and sits fine in the primary, trans fluid is fresh.. I don’t know what’s going on, it sounds like the primary or something in the clutch is growling.. now the crazy thing is if I let cool down again it will work fine for a little again.
I rode it awhile in low gear and it seamed to be better than when I rode it in high.. any ideas??
